Pawnerd Slider
Act as a MIDI controller
This device can output its value as a standard MIDI device by default. This way you can use it for your favorite audio applications.
Motorized slider
Inside this device is a motor which can move the slider at various speeds by itself. This allows the device to be more responsive and to provide tactile feedback.
Completely programmable with Python
We provide a python library to read and set the slider value. The slider can move by itself using a motor.
Demos and GUI included
This device comes with a simple to understand GUI to make it easy to work with. Demonstration of the device is shown below.
Solid CNC milled aluminum case
The casing and button are made out of solid aluminum for the best possible durability and performance.

Our vision
We are a small start-up with the vision of creating new computer peripherals that give you a new perspective on how you can use your computer. This means that we cannot keep a large stock of our products before we have sold at least a few of them. We do have everything organised for the production of this product, but we want at least 100 sold units before we pull the trigger. Will you help us reach our goal?
Easy to understand
With Pawnerd Gearbox, you can easily manage and share your scripts. With each script, you give the slider a purpose for any of your Windows or MacOS applications.
For instance, if you want to use your slider to slide trough browser tabs, you can connect it to both Chrome and Firefox with a few simple clicks! Same goes for changing the volume of your audio.
The Gearbox software is fully opensource, which means you can always add new features if you want.
Gearbox also provides simple debugging features. Did an error occure? No worries, you can always find back what happened to make your script stop.
Demos
Audio mixer
In the example you see here, the master audio volume is being controlled by the slider. If you change the audio on your MacOS or Windows machine, it automatically reflects on your slider and vice versa.
More examples will follow soon ...
Electronic features
Piezo buzzer
What’s that ticking noise? This slider can create audible clicks or play simple tunes using its piezo element.
Powerful motor controller
This tiny yet powerful motor driver makes your slider move by itself!
Smart USB Microcontroller
The MCU inside (ATmega32u4) runs our open sourced software and is the heart of your slider.
Additional EEPROM Memory
Want to store some extra bytes or parameters on your slider? Well, we added 12kbit of memory for you.
Reset switch (for the makers)
If you write your own firmware and get stuck, this easily accessible reset switch gets you to a safe state quickly.
USB Type C Connector
Built for the future! The usb type C connector will likely not be discontinued anytime soon.
ESD and Current protection
Did a short circuit occur? Or did you give it a static shock? Likely it won’t hurt this slider at all.
Please be aware that the actual PCB being used might be updated. This means that the traces on it could be improved and that the general shape might differ a littel bit from the illustration. That being said, all features showcased will remain on board (pun intended).
This is a photo, not a rendered image. Special thanks to Stef Wolters!
Precision machining
The body, bottom plate, and moving button are all made out of aluminum using a CNC mill. This is a time consuming technique to fabricate these components. We choose to make the parts using CNC machining because we wanted to get the best possible quality we could think of during the design process. We do not only value functionality, but also the form in which it is presented.
Assembly process
Please be aware that the assembled slider in this video is the 100mm version and not the 60mm version. Both are assembled exactly the same way, with the size of the sliding module being the only difference.
